Seruit Lampung

Like almost ethnic groups in the world , eating together is  important " ornament "  for special occasion  for Lampung tribes . In these occations its  common or even almost certainly seruit will be served . Meal along with seruit  is commonly called nyeruit.
Nyeruit already become a tradition passed down by both tribes in Lampung  either by indigenous Say Batin tribes and tribal Say  Pepadun ( occupy the coastral area ) , in fact it is not clear who owns the seruit authentic recipes .

Perhaps many of the readers want to know what is the seruit ? Basically seruit  is a raw chilly sauce that was served in a large mortar or container mixed with a variety of dishes , especially grilled fish meat, grilled eggplant , a variety of raw vegetables(salads)  and warm rice.

It might sound unusual , but the way of eating seruit that makes this occasion so special . Nyeruit is a togetherness without limit , young or old whatever your social status will be blend in this nyeruit event . All people will be sitting surrounding  the container or mortar containing seruit mixture that has been diluted with lemon juice with a plate of white rice , you are welcome to enjoy  the mixture from the container directly with your hand without spoon  then placed over your rice and direct to the mouth ! ! ! Or instead you take  rice from the plate and then dipped into seruit, up to what you like . Less than a minute we can be sure this nyeruit event will definitely messy all over, when  seruit mixed up with rice that sticks to the tip of the finger the jokes and small talks will full filled the air , hands even touched each other over the mortar when you take seruit . Indeed you will not find this a warm atmosphere in any gala dinner .
 
Nyeruit for me personally is an initiation in friendship , as a newcomer on this Lampung area I am trying to merge with local custom , look for as many friends and tried to learn the customs of the place where I build my new life , after a few moments and feel close to each other , a neighbor who happened to be the original Lampung  tribe invited me to nyeruit with some house wives around the neighborhood   , which I immediately agreed without a doubt , because for me the moment is an  initiation for me to felt completely melt and become part of the community this beautiful area , our relationship became closer and warm , as warm as the chilly seruit  sensation in the mouth
